What's the UIDEA at UIC?

A MESSAGE FROM KELLY SOLTYS TO THE UIC ADVANCEMENT COMMUNITY

Have you heard of UIDEA? What is it? The University of Illinois Foundation has created the nation’s first higher education advancement accelerator, called UIDEA, which was created to investigate, design, or pilot new ideas in engagement or philanthropy for the UI advancement program (or to disrupt the industry!). For example, last week we kicked off the 3rd batch of ideas to explore:

Ignite Diversity: Diversifying advancement at UIC through outreach, education, and marketing to increase awareness about advancement as a career path. Sign up here if you’d like to learn more.

Founder’s Pledge: Designing a founder’s pledge program to solicit entrepreneurs today for a stretch gift in the future upon a liquidity event. Sign up here if you’d like to learn more.

UIDEA Lunch and Learn
If you’d like to learn more about the UIDEA program please join Katie Blum, UIF Assistant VP for Strategic Innovation, for a Lunch & Learn (UIF will provide FREE lunch!). You’ll hear about the history of the program, lessons from the first two batches, what’s coming this fall, and how you can help change the face of philanthropy and engagement as a team member, advisor, supervisor, etc.

I Have an Idea Workshops
For those who have a new-to-the-industry idea or new spin on an old idea but haven’t quite figured out whether it’s a fit for UIDEA or how best to structure the idea, how to go about building a team, or whether now is the right time to apply, come brainstorm with Katie about getting your idea from concept to reality.

  • Tuesday, October 15 from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. in 2550 University Hall (East campus)
  • Friday, November 15 from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. in 145 Pharmacy (West campus)

I Need an Idea Workshops
For those who are looking for some stretch opportunities to grow professionally and to connect to a broader advancement and advisor community but don’t have an idea yet that might be a fit for UIDEA, come hear about some areas ripe for re-imagination in advancement.

  • Tuesday, October 15 from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. in 2550 University Hall (East campus)
  • Friday, November 15 from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. in 145 Pharmacy (West campus)

Registration
All UIDEA @ UIC sessions are optional, and you don’t need to attend the Lunch & Learn to attend a workshop. To register for the Lunch & Learn and/or any workshops please click here.
